ANNOUNCEMENT ON THE APPLICATION OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS TO UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS IN ISTANBUL MEDENIYET UNIVERSITY
Applications by international student candidates to the undergraduate programs offered by Istanbul Medeniyet University (IMU) given in Table 1 will be accepted according to the following schedule.

The following are required to apply as an international student candidate:
- Senior-year high school students or high school graduates can apply.
- To be eligible as international students, applicants are required to possess the criteria set forth by Turkey’s Council of Higher Education in its “International Student Admission Criteria” dated 16.07.2014. Click here to see the criteria (in Turkish).
- For admission into the programs, candidates are required to take “İstanbul Medeniyet University International Student Selection Exam” (IMUYOSS) administered by Istanbul Medeniyet University (IMU). As a prerequisite to taking the IMUYOSS exam, candidates are required to have taken the University Admission Test in their respective countries and achieved the minimum score given in Appendix 1; or if their country or the related exam are not shown in the table, then they are required to have achieved at least 40 percent of the maximum possible score in their national exam (see Appendix 1); or they are required to have achieved the minimum scores given below for each international exam:
a) A minimum total score of 1000 and a minimum math score of 600 on SAT1 (The exam result cannot be older than two years),
b) A minimum mathematics, science reasoning and composite score of 21 on ACT (The exam result cannot be older than two years),
c) A level in at least three subjects on GCE (A Level Exam) (at least one of the subjects should be related to the applied program),
d) A minimum diploma grade of 28/42 on ABI,
e) At least 4/1 (Inverse Matrix) on ABITUR; or the candidates are required to have taken the University exam in Turkey in the last two years and achieved a higher score than the minimum score required for the program they are applying to.
Students who were forced to migrate to Turkey are not required to present any national or international exam result.
Applications will be made between 12-17.09.2018 via the online form at https://obs.medeniyet.edu.tr/oibs/ogrsis/basvuru_yabanci_login.aspx
The form asks the candidates to fill in their personal information, upload the required documents in PDF format, and indicate the domain to which they want to apply; i.e., one of verbal, quantitative, or equally weighted domains. Candidates can only select from among the programs pertaining to the domain they have indicated. Therefore, take careful note of the particular domain in Table 1 pertaining to the program you want to be placed in and mark this domain in the application form. You can select a maximum of five programs in your domain of application.
IMUYOSS exam is planned to be administered in IMU’s Göztepe Campus in Istanbul, as well as abroad in YTB (the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities) offices, Turkish Maarif Foundation’s schools, Yunus Emre Cultural Centers, and universities governed by the Council of Higher Education (YOK) with relevant permits obtained. Detailed information as to the exact exam locations and hours for the exams will be announced on IMU’s website on a later date. Any changes about the exam venues and hours will also be announced on the website. The exam will be administered simultaneously and using the same questions in these venues.
Your score in the IMUYOSS exam will be the sole criterion for the acceptance of your application. You cannot be placed and admitted in case you do not take the exam. Therefore, please be careful about your domain and exam venue selection.
Documents Required for Application:
The following documents are to be scanned, converted in PDF format, and uploaded to the application system:
- Bank receipt of the exam fee payment: An exam fee is charged for IMUYOSS. Applicants from Turkey are to remit a fee of 50 Turkish liras before application to the following IBAN account: T.C. Ziraat Bankası TR640001000900588569195118. Applicants from abroad are to transfer a fee of 10 USD before application to T.C. Ziraat Bankası TR370001000900588569195119. If applicants from abroad cannot transfer the exam fee from a bank where they live, they can pay at the exam venue. During online application, these applicants need to mention the following: "The exam fee will be paid in cash"
- A copy of the identity card or passport translated into Turkish by a sworn translator;
- A copy of the diploma/student certificate translated into Turkish by a sworn translator;
- A 4,5 cm x 6,0 cm headshot photo in which the applicant is easily recognized and which was taken in the last six (6) months;
- A document showing the candidate’s score in a national or international exam translated into Turkish.
In addition, -optionally- candidates may upload their Turkish Proficiency certificates received from Yunus Emre Institute or the Turkish language teaching centers at other universities within the last two (2) years, if any, and other foreign language proficiency certificates, if any, for programs offered in a foreign language.

Istanbul Medeniyet University International Student Selection Exam (IMUYOSS)
IMUYOSS is an 80-question multiple-choice test that assesses general aptitude, mathematics, and geometry skills. Each question has only one correct answer and when calculating the scores, one correct answer is cancelled for every four false answers. The exam may be administered using different questions for the applicants to the programs pertaining to each of the quantitative, verbal, and equally weighted domains. The programs and related domains are announced prior to application and the applicants are asked to indicate their domain preference in the IMUYOSS application form. Candidates can only make admission and placement application for the programs pertaining to their selected domain. IMUYOSS assessed on a grading scale of 100 points and the exam result is valid for two years. Candidates are required to obtain a minimum score of 50 in order to apply for placement.
The applicants are required to bring the following to the exam venue:
a) A copy of the application document downloaded from the online application system;
b) a 4,5 cm x 6,0 cm headshot photo taken in the last six (6) months; and
c) their passports (required for the candidates taking the exam in Turkey).
As for passports, in case of an applicant with two nationalities, one of which is Turkish citizenship, or in case an applicant who has immigrated to Turkey due to reasons like war does not have any passport, they are required to present their identity card issued by the Republic of Turkey; and in case the applicant has not been issued a passport by their government for being a minor and has traveled abroad using their parents’ passports, then they are required to bring to the exam venue their parents’ passports.
The applicants should also bring with them soft-tipped pencils, erasers, and pencil sharpeners for the exam.
Applicants are not allowed to bring to the exam venue any kind of sharp cutting tools, firearms, mobile phones, wireless communication devices, earphones, and calculators. Otherwise, the applicant’s exam shall be terminated and cancelled.
Exam results will be announced on the University website. Successful candidates will be informed via e-mail and invited to registration with the required documents. Of registering students, those with a language proficiency level of B2 and above may immediately start education in their programs, while those below the B2 level are given one year to receive preparatory language education.
Admission of international students is subject to “Istanbul Medeniyet University Directive for the Applicatıon, Admission and Registration of International Students to Undergraduate Programs”. Candidates are strongly advised to read the Directive. Please click here to read it (in Turkish).
NOTE: Students who have been placed in any undergraduate program in IMU through 2018 IMUYOSS exam cannot apply to this exam.
